There are a couple of books that I have read that were very interesting. The first is about how people are motivated and how to motivate others. If you would like to add them to the list, please feel free.
1. Switch: How to change things when Change is Hard by Chip and Dan Heath.
2. The 5 Love Languages by Gary Heath. This book is about creating and maintaining healthy relationships... Not only with your children or your spouse, but with other people.

Most of the really interesting articles I read come from magazines:
Utne Reader
Mother Earth News
www.gizmag.com - Is an amazing source for the latest and newest Science and Technology breakthroughs.
Even www.unexplained-mysteries.com/ is a pleasant surprise. This site links news from other Newspapers like the Huffington Post, Science Daily, Psychology Digest etc.

I hope these help!
